See What Real CQB Training Looks Like Inside Our Modular Killhouse

Every building, every corner, every doorway — violence happens fast and up close.
Here’s how we train ordinary firearm owners and security teams to fight back effectively.

“This is real footage from our CQB program — no staged actors, no theory, only practical application.”

What Is Home Defence & Room Clearing?

When someone kicks your door in at 03:00, your family doesn’t need theory – they need you to move, think and fight without shooting the wrong person.

Home Defence & Room Clearing (Home Defence CQB) is a modular course that teaches ordinary firearm owners how to fight their way through a real South African home invasion or farm attack scenario.

No fantasy. No cosplay.

Just one armed civilian protecting their loved ones inside a house.

“Live movement drills inside our modular killhouse.”

Required Skill Level

This is an intermediate to advanced course.
Because of the fast pace and confined environments of CQB, students must already be confident with:

  • Firearm fundamentals
  • Smooth, efficient mag changes
  • Clearing basic malfunctions
  • Shooting from multiple positions
  • Moving safely under light pressure

If you’re still developing these skills, we recommend completing Intro to Handgun or Combat Handgun first — these courses will prepare you perfectly for CQB and ensure you get the maximum value from the training.

Two Training Pathways — Choose the One That Fits Your Mission

Our CQB program is designed for two types of clients:

1. Individual Homeowners (6-Module Pathway)

The Home Defence Blueprint – 2 Phases, 6 Modules

We train in two logical phases:

Phase 1 – Survive the First 30 Seconds
Focus: You alone, moving to your family, not getting shot, not shooting the wrong person.

Phase 2 – Fight Through the House
Focus: Night, noise, smoke, screaming, force-on-force and full home-invasion missions.

Each phase consists of three modules. You can book Phase 1 alone, but the full experience is Phase 1 + Phase 2.

2. Security / CPF / Tactical Teams (6-Module Pathway)

Designed for professional or volunteer teams operating in high-risk environments.

You will learn:

  • Team communication and flow
  • 2-man and 4-man room entries
  • Sector control and angle responsibility
  • Scenario-based team tactics inside structures

This pathway runs over 6 modules with additional team-based work.

Why You Must Complete All Modules

Each module builds on the previous one — concepts, movement, and decision-making become progressively more advanced. Completing every module ensures you are competent, confident, and safe in real-world CQB environments.

Training Environment – Modular Killhouse

The non-shooting modules of this course are conducted in our state-of-the-art, purpose-built modular killhouse in Pretoria North — one of the very few facilities of its kind in South Africa. It has been designed specifically to replicate real-world close-quarters environments in a safe and controlled setting.

What Makes This Killhouse Unique

  • Fully modular internal layout — rooms, passages, and doorways can be reconfigured between modules so students never encounter the same floor plan twice.
  • Integrated camera system — allows for real-time feedback and detailed post-scenario review.
  • Light and sound stressors — enhance realism and pressure, forcing critical thinking under stress.
  • Keiron training system — eliminates risk of injury while preserving the realism of engagements.
  • Scenario-based training — each module introduces new spatial challenges, requiring students to assess, plan, and execute differently every time.

This dynamic environment is critical for developing adaptable strategies, improving decision-making under pressure, and preventing training complacency. No two training sessions are ever the same — just like in real defensive encounters.

Individuals (Home Defence Pathway)

Module 3: Live-Fire Home Defence Mechanics

  • Real-world defensive application

Level 2 – Advanced CQB & Night Operations (3 Modules)

For students who have completed Level 1 and want to progress to advanced room-fighting principles, low-light engagements, and high-pressure live-fire.

Module 4: Night CQB & Home Invasion Scenarios

  • Use of handheld and weapon-mounted lights
  • Identifying threats in darkness
  • Managing angles when visibility is limited

Module 5: Force-On-Force & The Decision Lab

  • Understand where attackers are likely to wait and how they think
  • Be able to fight from your bedroom to your children’s rooms
  • Have practised not shooting your own loved ones under stress

Phase 1 is where your survival lives.
Phase 2 is where the chaos starts.

FAQ

Q: Is this course suitable for beginners?
A: No. You must already be safe and reasonably competent with your firearm. If you’re unsure, start with Lone Operator Level 1.

Q: Do I have to do both phases?
A: You can complete Phase 1 as a stand-alone block. However, Phase 2 is where you experience full low-light, smoke and force-on-force missions. Most students who finish Phase 1 immediately book Phase 2.

Q: Can my spouse train with me?
A: Yes. Although the curriculum is built around the solo defender, spouses often train together to build a shared home-defence plan.

Q: Do you offer this to security teams and CPFs?
A: Yes. We have a separate Team CQB program specifically for security companies, CPFs and farm response teams. Scroll up to the Security Teams section for more info.
