Defensive firearms and patrol tactics for South African farms.
Farm attacks don’t happen on a square range. They happen on gravel roads, at gates, near bakkies, in open fields – and often in the dark.
This 3-module program teaches South African farmers and rural safety groups how to move, communicate and fight defensively using the firearms and vehicles they already have.
Why normal shooting courses are not enough for farmers
Most firearm training focuses on square ranges, static drills and perfect conditions.
But rural violence doesn’t play by those rules.
On farms you deal with:
• Long distances
• Gravel roads and chokepoints
• Limited backup
• Bakkies full of family or neighbours
• Poor visibility and night movement
You need more than shooting skills — you need to move, communicate, debus and decide under real conditions.
Who Should Attend
Anyone responsible for people, land or safety in a rural environment:
• Farmers and farm owners
• Family members living on farms
• Farm managers and key staff
• Rural safety and farm-watch groups
• Community patrol volunteers
What You’ll Learn
By the end of this program you will be able to:
• Run your handgun, carbine or both in real rural conditions
• Zero accurately and understand distance shooting
• Move and communicate as a farm patrol team
• Safely debus from your bakkie under different scenarios
• Use simple formations that work in open terrain
• Identify, observe and report threats using basic surveillance
• Operate confidently at night with handheld or weapon-mounted lights
• Make legally sound decisions under South African private defence law

Built Around The Way Farmers Actually Move: In Bakkies
Most defensive training ignores vehicles. On farms, the bakkie is:
• your transport
• your cover
• your communication hub
• your extraction platform
You’ll learn clear, repeatable SOPs for:
• Admin Debus
• Suspected Contact Debus
• Contact Debus under fire
And you’ll train these with:
• 1 bakkie and 1 driver
• 2–4 bakkies in convoy
• 1 bakkie with 3 riders on the back
This is the heart of rural defence.
