Dry Fire Drills
To increase your shooting proficiency, you must practice with dry fire. Recoil forces the rifle up and back when shooting live ammunition. When the shot breaks, a person’s reflexive response to the recoil is to push back down on the pistol to resist the recoil, which becomes ingrained and automatic. Because the shooter anticipates recoil and moves the firearm during the trigger pull, this natural response leads to poor accuracy.
Dry-fire training using a laser training cartridge or a laser-equipped training pistol is quite beneficial in this situation. With no muzzle blast and no recoil to cause the firearm to jump around, the shooter can practice a smooth trigger pull while keeping the sights on target, and see exactly what is going on with the firearm and sight alignment from the moment the finger is placed on the trigger to the moment the hammer falls. When using live ammunition, this is simply impossible.
Dry Fire training helps the shooter to practice sight image and alignment, trigger squeeze, target transition, follow through, and stance while receiving instant feedback. The shooter will develop the correct muscle memory response and follow through while live firing by dry firing at home on a regular basis, keeping the sights steady on the target as the shot breaks.
For this, the Keiron Laser Target System is ideal.
